What treatment can help with

What this could mean for you.

Replace missing teeth

Implants can support a crown, bridge or denture, depending on the number and location of missing teeth.

Support chewing

An appropriately planned restoration aims to restore function as well as replace the visible gap.

Consider fixed and removable options alongside the health of nearby teeth, gums and bone.

Your treatment plan is based on your examination and goals.

Start with your concern

Every missing tooth has a story.

Your dental history and the spaces you want to replace help shape the conversation.

01

One missing tooth

An assessment considers the gap, nearby teeth and available support before discussing replacement options.

02

Several missing teeth

The number and location of spaces influence planning. Replacing several teeth does not automatically mean one implant for each tooth.

03

Difficulty with a denture

If a denture moves or is uncomfortable, discuss its fit and whether adjustment, replacement or implant support may be appropriate.

04

A long-standing gap

Changes in bone and surrounding teeth can affect your options. An examination can clarify what further information is needed.

From your first visit onwards

How treatment is planned at Grin & Brace.

  1. 01

    Assess teeth and health

Discuss your medical history, medicines, smoking and dental concerns. Examine the mouth and arrange appropriate records or imaging if indicated.

  2. 02

    Agree an individual plan

Discuss the proposed restoration, alternatives, risks and likely stages. Ask whether preparatory care or a bone graft could be needed.

  3. 03

    Placement and healing

Surgical treatment is followed by a healing period and reviews. Timing depends on your circumstances; temporary replacement options can be discussed.

  4. 04

    Restore and maintain

The replacement tooth or teeth are fitted when appropriate. Ongoing cleaning, check-ups and maintenance remain part of your care.

Your consultation includes assessment and planning. The clinic will confirm where any required imaging or surgical procedure will be arranged.

Understanding the treatment

A replacement tooth has more than one part

An implant is placed in the jawbone to support a replacement tooth or teeth. The visible restoration may be a crown, bridge or denture. A connector joins the restoration to the implant. The plan depends on the gap, the surrounding tissues and how your teeth meet.

Implants are one option among several. A consultation should help you understand whether they are appropriate, what further investigations may be needed and what the treatment would mean for you. You can compare this with a bridge, removable denture or other suitable approach before deciding.

Discuss your options

Compare the choices before committing

Implant-supported replacement

Involves surgery and a staged plan. Bone support, gum health, medical factors and the ability to maintain the restoration all matter.

A dental bridge

A fixed replacement supported by nearby teeth may be an alternative. Suitability depends on those teeth and the design being considered.

A removable denture

A removable replacement may suit some situations. Ask about fit, maintenance and how it compares with other appropriate options.

Your examination helps us recommend the options that suit you.

Living with treatment

Long-term care is part of the decision

Follow the recovery plan

Ask for written aftercare, what discomfort to expect and who to contact if healing concerns arise. Recovery advice must match the procedure you receive.

Keep the area clean

Learn how to clean around the implant restoration and surrounding teeth. The right tools depend on the shape and accessibility of your replacement.

Attend ongoing reviews

Implants and their restorations need monitoring. Components can wear or need attention; do not ignore looseness, swelling or persistent discomfort.

Your questions

A little more clarity
before your visit.

These answers are a starting point. Your consultation is where we discuss your individual situation.

Am I suitable for an implant?

Suitability depends on oral and general health, bone support and other individual factors. Dr. Hemang Zala will assess your suitability and explain any further investigations needed.

How many visits are involved?

Implant treatment usually involves 6–8 visits from placement to delivery of the final prosthesis. Full-mouth rehabilitation can require more visits. Your sequence is confirmed in your plan.

What if there is not enough bone?

Further imaging or a bone graft may be considered in some cases. A graft adds procedures, risks and healing time. Alternative replacement options should also be discussed.

How long does the process take?

Implant treatment has separate planning, placement, healing and restoration stages. Healing of the implant within the bone commonly takes around 3–6 months after placement. The complete plan can take longer if extractions or a bone graft are needed. Dr. Hemang Zala will explain your sequence, review points and when the final replacement teeth can be fitted.

Will I have a gap while healing?

Temporary replacement options can be discussed during planning. Dr. Hemang Zala will explain what is appropriate while the site heals and when a final restoration can be fitted.

What does recovery feel like?

Tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur after surgery. Dr. Hemang Zala should explain pain management, eating and cleaning advice, and symptoms that need prompt review.

Do dental implants last forever?

Dental implants are designed for long-term tooth replacement. Daily cleaning, healthy gums and regular reviews help support their continued function. The crown, bridge or denture they support may need maintenance, repair or replacement over time.

Who will carry out my treatment?

Dr. Hemang Zala is the implantologist on the Grin & Brace team. The clinic will confirm the surgical, imaging and follow-up arrangements for your plan.

Are there any risks or limitations?

Implant treatment can involve infection, delayed healing, failure to integrate, injury to nearby structures or altered sensation. Gum and bone problems can develop later, and restorations may need repair or replacement. Smoking and some health conditions can affect outcomes. Discuss your personal risks and alternatives with the treating clinician.

Full-arch implant options

A full arch of replacement teeth may be supported by four or six implants. The number, position and implant system depend on your examination, bone and the planned prosthesis. Dr. Hemang will explain suitable options and whether any additional treatment or arrangements are needed.
